Hot Days, Hot News! FIX-UP DAY; BLOCK PARTY; GATEWAY 2; PRICE OF BEAUTY
FIX-UP DAY
Announcing a new OHE event… Fix-up Day on Saturday, August 18, starting at 9:00. The idea is to accomplish several things for our common areas, in one day.
· Repair stockade fences where pickets are broken or missing
· Rake out ground rocks and ruts so grass can grow and be mowed
· Elevate tree branches over sidewalks for walkers
· Take trash, leaf pack, and brush to the dump (chipping day)
We’re appealing especially to our OHE teens to get involved. Jean Nichols is providing forms to give community service hour credit to kids for schools, churches, scouts, etc.
So, tell your teen about this opportunity to benefit their hood and their good.
We’ll meet at the east (back) gateway, Saturday, August 18, 9:00 AM and we’ll work till the hood looks good (or noon at the latest). Sign up with John atchamberjh@gmail.com
BLOCK PARTY
Save the Date! This year the Committee is sponsoring an End of Summer Block Party on September 8, Longview, 4:00 PM. But we need your help and ideas! So, there will be a meeting for anyone interested in helping on Monday, August 13 at 7:30 PM at Casa Caliento, 7 Longview. If you can’t make it and want to help or have ideas please email Anne at ajscaliento@gmail.com. Let’s get this party (planning) started!
GATEWAY 2

PRICE OF BEAUTY
Beauty requires good bones, maintenance, and money. Our OHE neighborhood has good bones. We have people who put in the time and effort to pull things together. And we need dues contributions to pay for the products and services to keep us looking beautiful. The dues collection period for 2018 is ending but only 70% of our budget has been funded. If you haven’t yet written a check for your share of neighborhood beauty, please do so before the end of the month… $60 (more or less) in an envelope to OHEC, 40 Ocean Hill Drive… please.
